Chess Awards 2008

Last year our school took part in the "Drogheda Concentrates" Primary School Chess League for the first time, playing against several teams from other schools in the Drogheda area. We achieved an overall 2nd place, being pipped at the post by St. Peter's Primary School, Bolton Street by a half point!
Well done to all the team members who played with great enthusiasm and sportsmanship.

INTO/EBS Handwriting Competition '09

Every year in February children from 1st to 6th class take part in this competition to celebrate the skill and craftsmanship of handwriting in our school. Entries are judged on neatness, consistency, style and layout of the presented piece.
Over the years, our pupls have done very well at regional and national level and last year, 2008, one of our students received 1st place in her category. This year, 2009, the same pupil received 2nd place in her category and the photo on the left shows her receiving her award in the Boyne Valey Hotel in Drogheda. We are extremely proud of her great success

M.S.Readathon 2009 Success

The M.S. Readathon was a huge success this year. 95% of the pupils from 1st - 6th class took part and raised €7,325. This was the highest amount raised by any participating school in the country. At as special event held in Dundrum, this achievement was recognised when the Readathon Committee presented our school with a plaque to mark the achievement and a voucher for €750 to purchase books or the school. Reading is a favourite hobby among many of our pupils and the MS Readathon was a very enjoyable challenge for a very worthy cause.
