The school is decorated for Christmas

All classes in the school decorate their own classrooms and many also create Christmas scenes for the hall and corridors. This year, the school was given the gift of an Advent Wreath from the parish and Advent noticeboards were created to explain the significance and symbolism of the wreath to the pupils. Nativity scenes were also constructed along with a "Santa" scene to remind us all of the joys of Christmas

Our Christmas Concert 2009

Our recent Christmas concert was held on th 16th and 17th of Dec. 2009. Two nights were given over to the event in the school hall to accomodate all the Christmas plays. Junior Infs, 1st, 3rd and 5th performed the first night, 16th followed by Senior Infs, 2nd, 4th and 6th the second night, 17th. The hall was filled to capacity as the families and friends of the students enjoyed the wonderful performances put on by the children and staff. Míle Buíochas and a million thanks for the huge effort and work put into these performances by the teachers, children, caring staff, Gráinne our secretary, Peter our caretaker and Marty, our sound engineer. Well done also to Brenda and her team on the Parents Council for their invaluable help. The unbelievably entertaining nights were the culmination of the wonderful teamwork of our whole school community. Well done to all.

Our Advent Service....22nd Dec.'08

In preparing for Christmas this year, the decision was made to host an Advent Service which would involve every class rather than do individual plays. The Service involved acting out the meaning of the Advent Wreath while the candles were being lit and the telling of the story of the First Christmas through narration, carol-singing and acting. Two services were scheduled, one in the afternoon and one later in the evening. Fr. Aidan Murphy, school chairperson and parish priest attended and praised the children afterwards for their beautiful service

Santa visits Cartown N.S.

Every year, Santa visits Cartown National School on the day of the Christmas holidays. All the children gather in the hall to cheer the arrival of this most welcome visitor. Laden with "Goodie Bags" which include healthy options like fruit, the children queue up for an audience with Santa. We are very grateful to Santa for never forgetting to visit us and reminding us of the grace of giving.
