Drama Group
We were very lucky to have a drama group visit our school this week. We all really enjoyed the show. We hope to see them back again for another show and more fun in the next few months.
Halloween Fun
We dressed up in our Halloween costumes for a spooky day at school. We also wrote Halloween stories and read them to the infants. A local lady, Ruth Campbell, came in to read a book to us and give us some tips for story writing. It was great fun being all dressed up with our friends and listening to a spooky story !
Positivity Day
On Friday the 30th of November we held a “Positivity Day”.
We began our day by performing two songs at assembly, Katie Perry’s Roar and Bruno Mars Count on Me. We felt that these songs represented the themes which we have been working on this term - believing in yourself and being a good friend.
We celebrated our successful performance by sharing a yummy continental breakfast in the staff room, which was delish!!
The rest of our day consisted of fun games and exercises which concentrated our minds on all of our talents, achievements and successes.
We brought home a lovely list of positive affirmations from our friends and a goal to keep filling each other’s buckets!!!
Rugby
We had a few sessions of rugby training and were very lucky when the coach brought The Leinster Cup to our school. We all got a chance to touch it!
Christmas Art
We made Christmas decorations with clay. We painted them and coated them with glue to give a fabulous shine. A lot of time and effort was put into perfecting our decorations and we are delighted with how they turned out.

A Visit From Santa
Santa heard how wonderful our Carol Service went Wednesday night so the next morning he took time out of his busy schedule to pay us a visit. We were all delighted and he didn't come empty handed either!!
Open Night
On 13th February we invited everyone from our local community into our school to see our work. We had a wonderful night. We did science experiments, tested our parents with tricky spellings and asked them riddles. We also had tea and buns in the hall with our friends. It was lovely to show everyone all the hard work we are doing. We had family members who traveled from as far as Waterford and Dublin to come to our special night.
Pancake Tuesday
On 5th March we made pancakes at school. Children kindly brought in the ingredients and a selection of toppings. We have been working on procedural writing so everyone wrote down the steps we followed in order in which they happened to make our delicious and tasty pancakes. The children look very happy and the pancakes look amazing!!
Well done to 4th Class :-)
World Book Day
On Thursday the 7th of March we celebrated World Book Day 2019.
Everyone made a great effort with their costumes and brought along the book which inspired their character.
We discussed our book’s authors and illustrators and told our classmates about our favourite part or favourite fact from our book.
We also had some DEAR time (drop everything and read)
The most popular characters were from David Walliam’s books and sporting biographies. Hannah, Janice and Alana even penned their own book and dressed up as the characters from it. Impressive girls!!!
Seachtain na Gaeilge
On Wednesday 13th March we celebrated Seachtain na Gaeilge at school by each class performing on front of the whole school. We sang Trasna na dTonnta and Lig mé Saor by Avicii. Hannah and Janice danced us through the instrumental. We all made a wonderful effort and it was a wonderful performance. We enjoyed watching all the other classes perform. Local musicians The Mc Evoys played Irish music for the school and local set dancers came in and led the teachers through some sets. Children from The Corrigan White School of Dance also performed. It was a super day!!
County Projects
Look at our County Projects! Children made a wonderful effort researching a county in Ireland. The projects are very informative and very well presented. Well done to all of fourth class for their efforts. The project are presently being displayed in our classroom.
Samba
On Tuesday 26th March we took part in a samba performance in the school hall in front of the whole school. We demonstrated the skills we learned over the past few weeks. We all found this a very enjoyable experience and are delighted with our newly found musical talents :-)
End of Term Breakfast at School as a Reward for our Hard Work
On Friday the 5th of April we enjoyed a lovely breakfast at school. We earned a school breakfast for all our hard work this term. Breakfast mornings are a chance for us to share, relax and to get our day off to a great start!
