The Sam Maguire Competition
April 2008

On the 1st of April 2008, the children rom 3rd class competed in the "Sam Maguire" competition. 32 schools from Co. Louth took part. Each school represented a county of Ireland.
Eleven of the pupils from 3rd class (see photo above left with class teacher and coach, Heather Lee) represented our school. The photo above right shows a proud Mr. Campbell holding the trophy.
The Cartown pupils won each game they played and each member of the panel of 11 took part in different stages of the competition.

The Sam Maguire Returns to Cartown 2009

Cartown's third class boys team participated again in the "Sam Maguire" competiton in the spring of '09. Much to their delight, they succeeded in repeating last year's great achievement by winning the competition outright. Their final match was against our neighbouring school, Scoil Naomh Feichin in Termonfechin and it was a very closely contested game. The photos below show the 3rd class boys' delight on the day after the final whistle blew. Their teacher and coach is Ms. Moore.

The Setanta Cup 2009

A huge CONGRATULATIONS to our girls' football team for succeeding in winning the Cumann na mBunscoil's Setanta Cup, after three consecutive years of reaching the final. The final took place on the beautiful morning of 17th Oct. in the O'Raghallaigh's. There they met their opponents, Kilkerly N.S. The girls' teamwork and great football skills shone through and resulted in victory. Everyone played their best and we saw some great scores from Rachael K. and Grace H. Another great day for Cartown!
