Here are some of the special events our school have done to help others in our community over the years. We are blessed with such kind and caring children.

St Vincent de Paul
We had our annual Christmas jumper day to support the local SVP.

Daffodil Day 2022
Today we wore yellow for Daffodil Day. We wanted to raise money for this very worthy cause. A total of €945 was raised so far. Once again, your generosity is greatly appreciated.

Down Syndrome Awareness
We celebrated 'World Down Syndrome Day' on Wednesday to make children and adults aware of Down Syndrome. A massive well done to all! You most certainly did 'Rock Your Socks!' The bright and bold socks looked great.
Donations for Ukraine
The Parents Council very kindly organised a collection for the people of Ukraine. The generosity was incredible. All donations were boxed up and loaded into a van by the Parents Council and others from the community. The donations will leave for Ukraine on Tuesday.
Non Uniform Day for Vincent de Paul

Today,11th December, we held a non uniform day with a Christmas theme in aid of the local conference of the Vincent de Paul.  Everyone looked great in their Christmas jumpers, Santa hats and so much more.  Even more importantly, through your generosity, €900 was raised which will go directly to families in need in our local area this Christmas.

In our School we try to help others in our community.

Mr Reilly brought his 4th Class to the local nursing home. The children sang traditional songs for the residents and they really enjoyed the experience. The residents were delighted to see the children and hear them sing many old  songs that they knew. Elvis even made an appearance. Click on the photos on the right to see our visit to Sunhill Nursing Home.
On 27th March 2014, S. N. Muire gan Smál, Cartown ran a Pyjama Day at school in aid of the “A Chance for Alice” fund.  Children and teachers embraced the spirit of the day and came to school dressed in pyjamas of all styles, shapes and sizes, and a fun day was had by all.  Parents, teachers and children contributed to the day and a total of €1632 was raised for Alice.  Well done to all.

Helping Others

Every year, the staff and pupils of SN Muire gan Smál like to make small contributions to different organisations and causes in our local community and further afield.  In December, we had a non-uniform day for our local SVP branch which raised over €750.

Mr Reillys’ Fourth class visited our local nursing home at Christmas and we sang carols for the residents. It was an enjoyable experience for all.

We held a bazaar in our school in April '13 and we raised €1,550 some of which went to the Sunni Mae Trust to help Lily Mae Morrison in her battle with Neuroblastoma.

Mrs Griffin organised a very successful sponsored walk for juniors and seniors which raised €1,200 for the Jack & Jill Foundation.

Ms. Moores’ Sixth class and Ms. Harmon and Ms.  Mc Donald's Second classes donated a portion of their Confirmation and First Communion money and the staff also donated towards our local palliative care team.

On Friday, 26th April '13 we held a Skipathon in school and the funds raised €1,400 towards the Irish Heart Foundation.
